COMMUNITY Care and Transport Care in Motion, based in Minlaton, is a finalist in the South Australian Community Achieve ment Awards, in the small business category.
The awards acknowledge the contributions of individuals, community organisations and businesses to the wellbeing of South Australians.
Care in Motion CEO David McDonald said he, the organisation’s management committee, staff and volunteers were thrilled to be a finalist.
Reaching the finals shows Care in Motion makes a significant contribution to the communities we serve, David said.
“We provide critical support through our community transport service and community aged care visitors scheme,” he said.
“Our purpose is to help transport-disadvantaged people meet their medical and social needs and prevent social isolation.
“(In 2022) Care in Motion secured state and federal funding to also cover the Northern Passenger Transport Network.
“We now provide our services to nine local government regions — Copper Coast, Yorke Peninsula, Barunga West, Mount Remarkable, Port Pirie, Northern Areas, Orroroo/Carrieton, Peterborough and Flinders Ranges.
“Throughout 2022-23, Care in Motion had 3087 active clients, made 17,745 client trips amounting to 3,095,379 kilometres travelled, and our wonderful and valued volunteers contributed $1,176,688 in unpaid work.”
David also thanked Awards Aust ralia and the SA Australian Com munity Achievement Awards for recognising individuals and organisations for the significant difference they make in local communities.
Winners of the awards nine categories will be announced at the Stamford Grand Hotel Adelaide in Glenelg on Friday, November 10.
